How To Add
Your Own Material
Step 1 - Create the text file
- Create your material using any text editor of your choice. The
text must be saved as plain text.
- At the start of your material enter $$$ 1 as a marker
indicating the start of section one.
- At the beginning of the next section place the next marker
$$$ 2. Continue in this manner until all of the topic
sections are done.
Example:
$$$ 1
Material for section one should be located here. The line above
represents the start of the page.
$$$ 2
This would be the start of section number two.
$$$ 3
Section three would go here etc..
End of your material.
Step 2 - Adding Your Material to the Program
- Open up the program and go to "Tools > User Module Tools
> Define User Material.
- Create a new book or book set. See Creating User Material for more
information. Be sure to record the name you entered in the first
box. You will need it for the next step.
- Rename your text file to - filename.exp where
<filename> is the name of the book you created in the above
step.
- Import the material into the program book directory you created
in the above steps. In the menu go to "Tools > User Module Tools
> Import > Note/Book/Lexicon." See the help Importing a Module for more information.
Be sure to select "Batch Input Mode" and select the location of the
exp file. The "OK" button will not be usable until the exp file is
found.
Adding Images
- To add an image to your material, convert it to jpeg format and
re-name it ixxxxx.jpg. Replace the "xxxxx" with 5
numbers.
Example: i00118.jpg
- Copy this file into the directory where your new book is
located. For example if your book is named "mybook" the file would
be copied into "mybook00."
- At the location you want to open the image enter "See Image
118". Use the same number that you used when you renamed the image
file.
Step 3 - Creating the Index
- Open up the book to the first page (book 0). It should be
blank.
- Right click on the window and select "edit" from the popup menu
or press "E" to switch to the editor mode.
- On the first line enter $index. Place it against the
left margin.
- In the next line enter a zero enclosed with quotation marks
("0"), a space and the book title you want to be displayed when you
open the index.
- .
- Below the zero enter "1" using the quotation marks, a space and
the first book title.
Example -
$Index
"0" The ANSWERS Book
"1" About the Authors
"2" Preface
"3" Answers in Brief
"4" What Happened to the Dinosaurs?
- When you are finished right click to open the popup menu and
click on "Check". Correct any errors found. Right click and select
"Save & Exit" from the popup menu.
Step 4 - Checking Your Material
- Open up each book to check and edit your material using the
program editor. This step will catch the majority of errors in the
text.
Step 5 - Module Check and Compiling
- The next step is to compile and check your book that you have
created. The features are located under Tools > User Module
Tools > Compile Tools. Read the helps for each before
using.
Notes
- Follow steps 1, 2, 4 and 5 above to create a note set. Use $$$
<Verse reference> instead of a book number. You do not have
to create an index for notes sets.
Example:
$$$ Ge 1.1
In the beginning God created... Notes for Genesis 1.1. The line
above represents the start of the page.
$$$ Ge 1.2
And the earth was without form, and void; Commentaries on Genesis
1.2 would be here.
$$$ Ge 1.3
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. End of your
material.
- Proper abbreviations must be used. See help on Abbreviations for the
format.
