Create/Maintain User Material

Use this option to create a new book, dictionary or library set. This is the first step to creating a compiled module.

Basic Options

Name

  • Names may be up to 31 characters long and contain upper and lower case characters.

Hint:

To compile a module without the "_" affixed to it, create your note set so that it starts with an "_". e.g. "_Notes". Compiled modules must have unique names otherwise you will have trouble accessing modules in your system with the same name.

Title

  • Enter a descriptive title for your book set. This title will be displayed when you select your book set. For best viewing it should be less than 35 characters.

Path

  • Enter the path if you want to place the material in a directory other than the Bible directory. If left blank the material will be created in the same directory as the program is located.

Fonts

  • Use the default fonts unless the module really needs a special Unicode font to display properly. If so copy the True Type font to the control directory for that noteset and select the option "Use Module Font".

Type

  • Select from the list the type of module you want to create.
  • Use BibleText for a translation. If it is a topic or book, select book etc..

Advanced Options

Language Class

  • Select the language that will be used for the module.

Associated Bible Version

  • We would suggest you select the AV Bible. Selecting the associated Bible defines the style.

Hint:

If the associated version is not listed it will have to first be selected. Press F9 to open the "Favourites" window and go to the versions tab.

Custom Options

Strongs

If selected numbers in text will be processed as Strongs numbers.

  • To override this prefix a number with a #. If the number contains a ':', ',' or a '.' the # is not required.

Footnotes

Treats text enclosed by { foot note } as a footnote Variant.

  • Treats text surrounded by | variant 1 | variant 2 | as a variant reading. Used mainly for Greek/Hebrew texts.

Case Sensitive

Biblical text is case sensitive e.g. Greek, Hebrew, unicode texts (Chinese, Korean &c). Normally tokens are stored in lower case and coverted to uppercase as required. This would be disasterous for a unicode text.

Reverse Display

For some Bible texts (e.g. Hebrew) the display is from right to left. Note for many texts that would require right to left display, the operative system does this automatically for you if the correct code page is specified, e.g. Arabic.

Large Database

Biblical database contains more than 56000 unique tokens. Do not specify this unless you get a error compiling your Bible text that states you have too many tokens.

Smart Note Scrolling

Some commentaries have one comment for a range of verses. By using this option when a verse is selected that is within the range of the commentary the first note will be displayed.

Module Description

  • This feature allows you to add copyright and other identification to a module. For books you may define categories that will be used to automatically build the library.

Utilities

New Name

  • Use this feature to rename existing text notes sets. Names may be up to 31 characters long and contain upper and lower case characters.

Rebuild Index

  • A map to the books is automatically maintained for you. If you ever have to rebuild this map, use the REBUILD option. Depending on the size of your books this may take a few minutes.

Click on OK to create your new book set.

Click on Exit to close without saving.
