Troubleshooting

Section 1

YOU HAVE A CD or DVD (If not go to section 2: )

CD is not in the CD drive.

  • Put it in!

The program may be run without the CD.

To do this:

  • Start the program with the CD in your CD drive. Go to the menu "Copy CD Items to Hard Drive" under the "Tools" on the main menu bar of the program.
  • Follow the online help and copy what you wish to your hard drive. At least one Bible version must be copied.
  • Shutdown the program and remove CD from drive. Start program up again without the CD in the drive.

CD is in the drive but not up to speed.

  • Patience. Rerun the program and the problem should go away.

CD in drive but may be damaged.

  • Go to the DOS prompt. Make your CD the default drive. If it is on the E drive enter the command E:and press enter. Replace "E:" with the appropriate drive letter.
  • Enter command CDVerify and follow the on-screen instruction.
  • If CD reads OK, restart the program by clicking on the icon.
  • If CD has errors, try this procedure on a friend's computer. If it works you likely have a hardware problem with your CD drive. Correct the error and retry. If it fails on your friend's CD reader, then contact the company who sold it to you for a replacement.

CD is in the drive and fails to work.

  • If you have a 24 speed CD player that was not manufactured by a good Japanese company, you likely have a defective CD. 24 speed CD players are known not to be able to read the inner most tracks on CD's with more than 520 megs of data on them. See if the vendor of CD player has an option to slow it down or better, replace it with a good Japanese drive or a slower drive. The 8 speed CD's run almost as fast as the 24 speed ones!

Section 2

YOU DO NOT HAVE A CD:

  • We assume you downloaded this material from the Internet.

The latest material may be downloaded from:

English Language Site -
  http://www.OnlineBible.net

Foreign Language Site -
  http://www.OnlineBible.org

  • If you have problems please download from that site so we know what you have. You do not have to pay anything for what you have downloaded. You do not need the CD to use the material you have downloaded.
  • When you download the material, run the file to install. In addition to the install file you must download at least one version of the Bible plus any other related material you wish to install.

ATI Video Problems

ATI Video

We have had problems with the ATI Rage Fury video card. If you are using this card it may cause the program to crash. Try the suggestions below.

  1. Change to 24 bit colour or 256 bit colours. This usually works.
  2. Try running with video hardware acceleration turned down to none. This will identify it as a video driver conflict if it eliminates the problem.
  3. Try running program with computer in safe mode (Win95/98) or VGA mode (NT).
  4. Contact your specific video card vendor about getting a compatible generic S3-compliant video driver.
  5. Uninstall Microsoft's DirectX software and try again.
