Adding Links to Other Notes

To add other hypertext links to your notes that display other notes, books, definitions, Bible references, and images, use commands from the hyperlink table.

Click here to view Hyperlink Table

  • Put these commands on a line by themselves.
  • Use the double back slash to highlight them.
  • In addition to the commands, you can also access alternate note, book, definition, image sets, avi (video) and wav (sound) files.

To cross reference and display John Gill's note on John 1:1, for example, you would enter -
\\See Gill on "Joh 1:1"\\

Playing Sound and Video Files

Place the AVI, WAV or MP3 files in the first directory of your notes or book set. For example, if your book set is named Sermon, the directory would be SERMON00.

Name the files as follows:
m99999.xxx

where m indicates a sound or video file

99999 is the file number

xxx "avi" for video

"wav" for sound

Examples:
If your video file is named m00005.avi enter the following -
\\See mmplayer 5\\
\\GoTo mmplayer 5\\
\\==> mmplayer 5\\

For a sound file named m00010.wav enter -
\\See mmplayer 10\\
\\GoTo mmplayer 10\\
\\==> mmplayer 10\\

Locating Text in Another Noteset

  • To position the cursor within a note or book, add the text as a string that exists within the specified book or note.

Example:
\\see note on "Mt 1:1" @@ "Generations of David"\\
or
\\GoTo note on "Mt 1:1" @@ "Generations of David"\\
or
\\==> note on "Mt 1:1" @@ "Generations of David"\\

  • When you double click on the above text from your note set, the Matt 1.1note will be opened and if the string “Generations of David” is found it will be highlighted.

Example:
\\see book 5 @@ 1.20.1\\
or
\\GoTo book 5 @@ 1.20.1\\
or
\\==> book 5 @@ 1.20.1\\

  • If the locator string contains spaces, surround it with double quotes. The locator string cannot contain the string " @@ ".
  • For a dictionary entry, add the separator after the description.

Example
\\"MyNote-Ps 90:1" Gill Note @@ "Generations of David"\\

  • When this item is selected, the note in the note set "MyNote" will be displayed for Ps 90:1. The notewill be positioned to the string "Generations of David". If the string does not exist in the note set then the note is positioned at the beginning.

Locating Images, Videos and Wave Files in Another Noteset

  • To display pictures in other notesets add a modifier of "Jpg" to the link.

Example:
To display image 279 in the Answer module:
\\See Answer 279 @@ Jpg\\

  • To show videos in other notesets add a modifier of "Avi" to the link.

Example:
To show video 27 in the Answer module:
\\See Answer 27 @@ Avi\\

  • To play wave files in other notesets add a modifier of "Wav" to the link.

Example:
To play wave file 79 in the Answer module:
\\See Answer 79 @@ Wav\\

This also works from dictionaries. The compare is case insensitive so JPG, jpg and Jpg will all work.

Opening a File from your notes

  • You can open a file from your notes by entering -

\\see Document <any text> "pathname"\\
or
\\GoTo <any text> "pathname"\\
or
\\==> <any text> "pathname"\\

Example:
\\see Document for "c:\MyFiles\manual.pdf"\\
or
\\GoTo Document for "c:\MyFiles\manual.pdf"\\

  • This will open the pdf file using Acrobat Reader. If the program is not on your hard drive the file will not open. Files with the doc extension will be opened with MS Word.
  • If you use a "?" for the drive letter, the drives are searched for the specified file.

Example:
\\see Document for "?:\MyFiles\help.html"\\
or
\\GoTo Document in "?:\MyFiles\help.html"\\

Linking to the Internet From a Note Set

  • By using the format shown below when you double click on the address your web browser will open up to the url address.

Example:
\\GoTo Explorer "http://www.AnswersInGenesis.Org"\\

  • Email addresses can also be placed in your notes set. When clicking on the address your mail program will open.

Example:
\\GoTo Explorer "MailTo:olbsupport@sympatico.ca"\\
