Reply to David Alan Jones Ridge regarding 'Two suggestions.'

<quote>In your post you failed to communicate that you are a new member. What time zone are you in? I look at your profile.</quote>

Why did I need to communicate that I am a new member? How exactly is that relevant? I am a new member in these forums, but a VERY old user of the OLB. I had it installed, and in use, within a week or two of it's first appearance, a lot of years ago [1988 or 9?]. I've been dealing with Raymond McGahie at the Online Bible Foundation since not very long after that

<quote>As to your suggestion number 1, Excuse me in order for us to assist you in this: we need a complete blow by blow step by step outline as to what you are trying to communicate with this. Have you all at least read, SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY, my post "NEW MEMBERS AND A REMINDER"? </quote>

This is a suggestion box forum - a place where people post suggestions that will perhaps be helpful to the developers. It is not a place to come and seek assistance, and I did not post seeking help. My description of a problem, that has persisted ever since the ability to display the version names in multiple rows at the top of windows was first offered, was clear and my suggestion of a simpler way was equally so. But, since you seem to need things done according to standing regulations, look at the two screen grabs below. The first shows the AV selected, and you'll see that the NLT is listed in the third line from the top. In the second image the NLT is selected and is in the line at the bottom while the AV has migrated to the top line. This jumping about of the lines of the list is disconcerting and utterly unnecessary. Simply show a fixed, alphabetically sorted list of versions loaded, and display which version is selected by highlighting it in the place it occupies.

<quote>As to your suggestion number 2, I have to correct you in that western reading direction is left to right whereas the Hebrew is right to left reading direction. And, OLB is designed for parallel display not interlinear. The options for displaying OLB are in the menu bar under the Windows menu. AND, although I have tested other software packages, I am a loyal OLB customer (Cross Country Software) and user, this forum is for assistance with the OLB package only. The first version of OLB became available in 1987 and as technology improved OLB has gone through many developments; other study packages have appropriated and commandeered (stolen) some of the OLB interface for their own.</quote>

Dumb of me to get the writing order of the two language types reversed but it doesn't alter the situation. You say the OLB is designed for parallel, and not interlinear, display and I'm reminding you that the early versions were designed for interlinear display and could mix LTR and RTL languages in a single display. When the software was rewritten for Unicode this ability was discarded because - and I was told this by Larry himself - you cannot display LTR and RTL fonts in the same window. I appended the screen grab from 'The Word" to show that interlinear display of the two language types is, trivially, possible.

As for you sneering suggestion that I am somehow disloyal to the OLB which you introduced masquerading under the claim that you are very loyal: who exactly do you think you're talking to? You need to learn good manners young man.

My second suggestion was a simple appeal to have interlinear display of RTL and LTR fonts returned to the software from which it was formerly removed and the image was a demonstration that it can be done.

My apologies for my loss of temper to all those associated with the OLB which I still, to this day, regard as a great work. I just have problems dealing with barrack room lawyers.
